Community Radio Station for the Shire of Nillumbik and the Cities of Banyule and Whittlesea, is dedicated to bringing you the best in local news, entertainment, arts, culture, sports, multicultural and niche music programs, as well as live broadcasts from community and special events.
Plenty Valley FM 88.6, the local Community Radio Station for the Shire of Nillumbik and the Cities of Banyule and Whittlesea, is dedicated to bringing you the best in local news, entertainment, arts, culture, sports, multicultural and niche music programs, as well as live broadcasts from community and special events. PROGRAMS: Monday to Friday - Workdays: From 10:00 to 14:00 (10am-2pm). - Afternoons: From 14:00 to 16:00 (2-4pm), hosted by a different presenter for each day of the week. - Drive: From 16:00 to 18:00 (4-6pm), hosted by a different presenter for each day of the week. These programmes will cover issues that arise in the local community, around the country and around the globe. These shows also feature sport, traffic, weather, community service announcements, and also play a wide variety of music. INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS: PVFM provides a wide range of international programmes for local ethnic communities to listen to during the week. These programmes are broadcast between 18:00 and 24:00 (6pm and 12am midnite), and are presented in foreign languages. - Swarna FM (Sinhala) & Laka Mihira (Sinhala) - The Romani Show (Romani) - Vanna Amuthama (Tamil) - Darol Salam (Arabik) - Rhythm & News (Hellenic Greek) - Lebanese Show (Lebanese) - Macedonian Show (Macedonian) - Samoa E Tasi (Samoana) - Jhankaro (Fijiana) - The Punjabi Show (Punjabi) - Pronto (Italiano) - Chinese from the North (Chinese) Weekends: The weekends normally host a selection of specialised programs, many of which focus on specific music genres - such as rock music from the 60's to the current day on Lets Rock, an all Beatles show titled From Us To You, nostalgic top 40 tracks from past decades on Those Were The Days, retro classics and recent hits on Wired For Sound, and blues & roots on The Whipping Post. There is also an Indigenous Australian program called Deadly Sounds which airs at 10am on a Sunday. These shows normally alternate between Saturday and Sunday for summer and winter. The Heat Is On is one of PVFM's longer running variety weekend programs, and is broadcast on a Saturday night at 6pm hosted on alternate weeks by Rob Puglielli and Chris Keating. Saturday Saturday is traditionally Plenty Valley FM's sports day, with a number of programs throughout the day covering a variety of sports from local to international level. During the winter months, programs include The Modern Sports Show, Winners Aplenty Big Sports Breakfast Show, Behind The Wheel and Boys Are Back In Town. Throughout the summer, the NMCA and DVCA Cricket Shows feature in the morning, with Not The Plenty Valley FM Sports Show and Sports Addiction following up in the late morning and early afternoon. Other Saturday programs include , and Almost Famous which seeks to unearth new, young Australian musicians, The Heat Is On (6pm-8pm), Let's Rock (8pm-10pm), and Trash Disco (10pm-midnight). Sunday Sunday usually features lifestyle and pop culture programs, such as Valley Lifestyles which covers local events, gardening, and food & wine. Other programs include the Christianity show God's Not Dead, From Us To You, Those Were The Days, Wired For Sound, The Download, and The Whipping Post. Overnight Music At midnight and weekday mornings, 88.6 Plenty Valley FM broadcasts it's real music variety, Plenty Valley FM Overnight and Mornings, during the day and overnight.
